Our Holiday Club enjoyed another fantastic day of adventure, learning and laughter as we travelled to Eureka! The National Children’s Museum in Halifax.
The day began bright and early at Rochdale Train Station, where children and staff gathered in anticipation of the exciting trip ahead. While waiting for everyone to arrive, we had a lovely surprise when we met The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Janet Emsley, who kindly stopped to wish the group a wonderful day and a safe journey.
Once everyone had arrived, we made our way to the platform and boarded the train to Halifax. The journey passed quickly, with children chatting, playing games and enjoying snacks while looking forward to the adventure ahead.
After a short walk from Halifax station, we arrived at Eureka!, a museum designed to inspire curiosity and learning through play. The children spent the day exploring a wide range of interactive exhibits, discovering how the human body works, experimenting with different activities and engaging in hands-on learning experiences.
One of the highlights of the visit was seeing the children learn through exploration and imagination. From scientific discoveries to creative play, every area of the museum offered new opportunities to build confidence, develop skills and spark curiosity.
Following an exciting morning of activities, we gathered outside for a well-earned snack break. With beautiful sunshine and temperatures reaching around 20°C, it was the perfect opportunity to enjoy some time outdoors. The fun continued at the museum’s playground, where children ran, played and made the most of the warm weather.
As the day came to an end, we made our journey back to Rochdale tired but happy, with lots of stories to share and memories to take home. It was a day filled with learning, friendship, discovery and plenty of smiles.
At New Pioneers Project, we believe that experiences like these help young people build confidence, develop new interests and create lasting memories while connecting with others in a positive and supportive environment.
A huge thank you to our partners Calder Valley Line Community Rail Partnership and Northern for helping to make this wonderful experience possible.
Together, we are creating opportunities, building confidence and inspiring the next generation through learning and adventure.
